Moxie fabby

I've been wanting to keep up with the Moxie Fab colour inspiration challenges, but unfortunately time was not my friend last week. Fast forward to my crafty weekend away and I managed two of the colour schemes! Here's the colours for the pretty pastels and neutrals challenges:

Here's my first card for the neutrals challenge:

I used a new Hero Arts cling flower stamp I got the other day and stamped it 3 times onto the blue/grey card. After white embossing it, I added a bit of depth with copics then cut and layered the 3 flowers. Here's a couple of shots of the layering.

Next up is the card for the pastels challenge, now I also think this fits the latest Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger too. Here's the trigger

And here's my card:

Once again I used white embossing on the leaf wreath and butterfly and then went in with my copics and glitter to highlight the butterfly.

Wow, well I think that's all for today!

Something to share

Hey, I'm back from my wonderful girls weekend away. We crafted all weekend - it was FABULOUS! I'm going to be quick this evening as I have some unpacking to do and some kiddies to hug but I just wanted to share one of the cards I made this weekend. This is for two challenges - the lovely colours of the latest colour throwdown and the layout from Mercy's card for the latest CASE study. Here's the inspiration:

And here is my card:

I went with a masculine theme, which is a bit unusual for me, but I'm always glad to have a boy card in my card box! I'm sorry the photos aren't great but I'm off to give those kiddos a hug!

Back soon ....

My blogging is a bit sporadic at the moment, for which I apologise. However, as of next week i am hoping to have something to blog about. You see tomorrow I'm off for a craft weekend with 2 great friends. The clothes (minimal) are laid out on the bed upstairs, the stash (lots) is starting to pile up downstairs and I'm just hoping my PTI parcel arrives before we head off! The Dad's are all prepped with who to take where, when etc. So as off tomorrow morning I'm clocking off and heading out. I am sooooooooooo looking forward to it!

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

"This month's blog hop challenge involves you challenging yourself to use a Papertrey stamp set that has yet to see ink or even one that might be collecting a little dust! "

With the blog hop in mind, I looked through my PTI stamp sets last night and I couldn't find one set that hadn't seen some ink! I do love my PTI sets and turn to them all the time, however, when I took a second look I noticed that there were some older sets I hadn't used in a while and even some newer sets that I hadn't used as much as I thought I would.

Now I was quite short of time last night so I turned to an idea of Mailes that I'd been wanting to try - her little treat bag. I filled a glassine bag with sweets, scored and folded some pure poppy card to wrap around and tied it together with a piece of sweet blush ribbon. From Everyday Treats (a set I've not used as much as I thought I would) I stamped the mat stack 1 image in sweet blush and added a chipboard heart and a sentiment from BandC monogram (an old set). A strip of bitty dots paper finished it off. One cute little Valentine treat ready to go.

CASE study #23

Well today I pushed the piles of things to be sorted to one side and grabbed a rediscovered pack of Bo Bunny rubons added the latest CASE study challenge and mixed it all up. This is the card that came out.

OK I guess it's back to the piles and piles and piles ........

Do you ever

Sorry for the lull in activity here. Do you ever regret starting something? For some reason we are in a major tidy up session. My daughter's room has been gone through, my youngest son's is most of the way there, my eldest son has been doing his own room and I've started the study/craft room. Upstairs isn't too bad but the study is currently in the phase where it looks worse than when I started! You know when you pull everything out to sort through it and you end up with piles everywhere. I'm not entirely sure what has set this tidy up project in motion, but I'm attributing it to the snow melting and milder weather we've been having - we are spring cleaning! We're just ignoring the fact that it's only January!

I did sneak in some time to make another card for last week's Tuesday Trigger. I did a masculine card for the trigger, but was very taken with the bright colours of the garland, so made a second card.

I have bought two little lamps with daylight bulbs to help take photos in the evenings and dull days we have here often. This photo is my first attempt at using them. I certainly got a better photo than I would've done without them, but feel I still need to learn how to take this type of photo better as I much prefer the photos I take in natural light.

Now, it's back to the sorting through these piles. I know I will feel better afterwards, but the process is a bit painful - I'd much rather be making something!

Friends of Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz

Hi there! It's time for another Waltzingmouse blog waltz and this time it's all about the love!

This card came together easily because of that cuuuute cupcake from the frame it set! I love this little cupcake! I paired it with a Fancy Pants rub on that I've had forever, stealing one of the little rub on hearts to put on the cupcake, a nice ribbon to finish it off and I called it done!

I hope you enjoy your next dance as you waltz along!

Hello

Hi there, just popping in to say "hello"!

I've seen some lovely stitching templates and such recently and thought I'd have a go myself. I started this by stitching the holes with green embroidery thread, but it all seemed too heavy, so I began again and this time just stuck to having the pierced holes in the card. I feel it adds detail without being too fussy. The top squares all come from a journalling card I had. I die cut the squares using the interesting parts of the card and then mounted them on to another die cut square in a contrasting colour.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

Cute

Popping in today to share a card I made with some more of the My Mind's Eye fine and dandy collection. Isn't that owl the cutest! The banner pieces and owl are from their layered stickers and make it so easy to whip up a quick card.

As I sit and type this, for the first time in 7 weeks I can see parts of my lawn! The weather has turned mild and we are melting at last. It feels like spring! I can kid myself that the worst of winter is over can't I?!

Celebrate

Another Moxie Fab challenge today - Tuesday Trigger. Isn't that garland adorable. I loved the bright colours with it too. However, I need a male card for a friend's 50th next week. So I thought I would still take the idea of circles flowing across my card but in more masculine colours. A while back I remember seeing a wine bottle all spruced up but for the life of me I can't find a link to it (my apologies), anyhow I remember how the dark bottle contrasted beautifully with a white label with a grey and gold colour scheme of circles across the label. So I suppose this card is a combination of the two inspirations - wine bottle and garland.

The bright colours of that garland are calling out to me though .....

Happy Birthday

When I saw the juicy colours in Moxie Fab's 'The Bright and Bold Challenge' I immediately grabbed some cardstock that closely matched. I've been wanting to try the latest Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge as I'm a sucker for a circle! So I combined the two challenges and came up with this card:

I thought I might give it to my niece for her birthday as I think the bright modern colour combo would go down well with a teenager.

I apologise for the rather dull photos - they reflect the weather here today. However, that's not a bad thing for once as the rain is helping to wash some of the snow away! When we get a brighter day I will try and get some better pictures. As we get quite a lot of grey days here, I do wonder about investing in some lights fitted with daylight bulbs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Blog award

The lovely Jen Carter and Jen W have just awarded me a stylish blogger award! I'm bowled over ladies; thank you so much! Part of the award is as follows:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this.
2. Share 8 things about yourself.
3. Pay it forward to bloggers that you have recently discovered.

So 8 things about myself ........ there's all sorts of things I could tell you about, but its hard to think of which 8 to put in! So off the top of my head here goes:

1. I am the youngest of 3 siblings.
2. I am a scientist by trade, studying cell biology at Uni and worked briefly in the pharmaceutical industry.
3. After getting married I spent a year living in Pakistan where my husband was working at the time.
4. I am now a stay at home Mum to 3 great kids.
5. We currently live in Scotland where I am getting used to the hard, snowy winters.
6. I love the changing seasons.
7. I'm a home bird. I do like going on holiday but am happiest pottering around at home.
8. All colours are great but green can't be beaten!

Now on to bloggers I've recently discovered. These two blogs have recently found their way to my google reader:

Cristina I'm in love with Cristina's CAS style. She really hits the mark with her on trend creations.
Aga Another designer with a CAS style, I love Aga's innovative use of her supplies.

Make yourself a cup of tea and sit a while with their fab inspiration.

With sympathy

Immediately I saw the "grey is the new black" post on Moxie Fab I knew I wanted to give this challenge a try. I love the grey/chartreuse and grey/yellow combinations out there at the moment. I went with the grey/chartreuse as green is my all time favourite colour!

I also wanted this card to fit the Passion for Papertrey challenge to use background stamps. So I reached for my trusty polka dots II set and using smokey shadow ink covered the lower third of the card in one of the tiny dots in the set.

Stamps - PTI turning a new leaf, friends till the end, polka dots basics II, WMS frame it
Inks - PTI smokey shadow, Versamark, Versafine onyx black

Many thanks

This is my second post for today. The to do list will just have to wait! I couldn't resist doing another of Lucy's sketches. Keeping it in order it's number 3:

Here's my version:

For the circle I used a rub on I've had for ages, then I layered up a few starburst flowers and a sentiment. I love these colours together. A bit of twine to finish it off and I was done. I really quiet like this card - it just hits the right spot for me.

Debby

Supplies:

Stamps - WMS frame it
Inks - Versafine onyx black
Paper - Bella Blvd lovey dovey

Rub on - Luxe Designs

Congratulations

I am loving Lucy's sketches this week! Here's number 2:

I also used the Tuesday Trigger inspiration from Moxie Fab:

And here's my card:

Lots of layers, embossing and monochromatic shimmer. I used the contrast of matt and shimmer card to define the layers and added more shimmer with a heart and a frame for the tag embossed in silver pearl.

I'm keeping it short today as it is the first day the children are back in school and I have a to do list as long as my arm!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely time last night. Unfortunately our plans had to be curtailed as another of my children is down with flu. Two down one to go! I hate it when they're ill, I feel so helpless when I can't make them better :(

My card today fits with two challenges - Moxie Fab's glitter is glam challenge and Lucy Abrams' sketch challenge. Here's Lucy's sketch

and here's my CAS card in all it's sparklyness. In real life it sparkles so beautifully, such a shame that glitter is so hard to photograph!

I hope 2010 was good for you but I hope 2011 is even better! Thanks for dropping by - I really do appreciate your visits.
