Curtain Call Colour Challenge # 71

I saw the rich colours for this weeks Curtain Call challenge earlier yesterday. Later, when I was putting some things away in my craft room, I saw my latest patterned paper pad and remembered the mustard spotty paper. I pulled out a piece and carried on tidying up. Next I spotted a splash of colour which matched cherry cobbler - it turned out to be an acetate flower. Before you know it I'd made a card. So much for the tidying up!

Sweet butterfly

Just popping in today to share a quick card. I made the main part of this card a few weeks ago and couldn't quite find anything I liked to place beside the sentiment. Then when I had my Love Lives Here set out the other day I thought I'd try the little butterfly and it fitted just right!

Card folder tutorial and home

Well, I've had quite a few requests as to how to make the card folder I showed you here. I've got visitors and lots on with the kids this weekend, but hope to be able to put together a tutorial during next week. So watch this space!

Now on to something I made yesterday. I did a happy dance when I first clapped eyes on the colours and patterns of My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Hattie papers! Well the paper pad arrived this week, so while meeting up at a friends for a crafty catch up I made the suitable "oohing" and "aahing" noises while putting together this card!

I love this little house from the Love Lives Here set.

Well I'd better dash and get on with the cooking in preparation for our visitor's arrival this afternoon.

Papertrey Ink February Blog Hop

"This month we decided to dedicate the Blog Hop to scallops! We want to see your best use of scallops, of any sort, on a project! I doubt I'm going to be the only one who has used scallops on an owl, but I couldn't resist! Here's my sleepy little fellow.

 
 
I used the medium scallop die to cut alternating layers of smokey shadow and aqua mist card and then layered them over an oval die cut, trimming off the excess. A few circle die cuts for the eyes and ears, a scrap of orange for the beak and he was done!

 
The number of layers meant that this little cutie is really sturdy and probably thicker than chipboard!

You did it!

It's sad to say that I am old enough to have a niece who has just passed her driving test. She is the most adorable young lady with many talents, however, she wasn't a natural when it came to learning to drive! Hence, for my congratulations card I'm sending her, I placed the car at an angle and added a few black lines to emphasise the wobble!

For this card I used the bright and fabulous colours of this weeks Curtain Call Challenge. I've been so busy recently that I haven't had time to play along with my favourite challenges and I've missed them.

At first I tried paper piecing the car with some polka dot paper, but it just didn't look right. So I used my very basic copic colouring skills instead which by chance fits with the Stampin With Markers Challenge at Moxie Fab.

Finally, I added some glitter to the green strip of card grounding my bumpy road using a strip of scortape in accordance with Make It Monday over at PTI. Phew, 3 challenges in one! And while the glitter was out I highlighted the headlamps and window too.

Card sets

I love Amy Butler fabrics and have indulged in a few of her delicious notebooks too. In addition, I bought this stationary set a while back - I was drawn to it's bold mix of patterns and absolutely adorable matching envelopes.

However, as much as I liked it, I found I didn't use the set; always turning to my own handmade items. So I decided to re purpose the stationary into sets of cards.

Using the paper patterns provided with the set, I made four simple cards, each with a different greeting.

Then I made a folder to keep the cards with their cute matching envelopes.

From the one stationary set I was able to make four sets each containing four cards. I will be tucking these away as handy end of term gifts for teachers or parent helpers.

Birthday invites

Oh my goodness, where did the time go! Sorry to be MIA this last week, but we've been having so much fun on our half term break. Now, I'm not having so much fun trying to get everything sorted on our return! I'm sure the washing is breeding!

Anyhow, when I last popped in I showed you this plate of worms

Well lots of die cutting later and here we are - my youngest's birthday invite. I was wondering about putting the tag on to a card, but it's so cute as it is. I've got a little tag shape on the back with the party details. Thank goodness my little lad loves it!

I wish I'd taken more photos of progress during the week, the bright die cuts looked so fab all lined up on the white table we had at our villa. Ah well, hindsight is a fabulous thing! Here's a bunch of the invites

Plate of worms

We are enjoying our half term break at the moment. When we all come in exhausted from a days fun and everyone's finally fed, watered and settling down for the night, that's when I get out the little pack of craft bits and bobs I've bought with me. A few things for me to do as I relax at the end of the day. And the result so far - a plate of worms! Isn't it supposed to be "a can of worms"? Well there's probably enough here to fill a can!

These cuties are just awaiting some googly eyes and are then intended for my littlest one's party invites. Hopefully I'll have more to show later in the week.

Party set

I've been playing around with some party invites, favours and thank you sets. My youngest's birthday is coming up and he loves all things cute. So I cranked up the Cricut again and experimented with various members of the cute critters cartridge. This monkey set didn't make the cut for my son but my daughter rather liked them so they may come in for later in the year.

The "You're invited" and "Many thanks" are both cards and the "go bananas" is a little treat bag. I thought I could get some of those tiny foamy bananas to put in there.

I tell you what - those critters are certainly sturdy by the time all the layers are stuck together. These monkeys are made of three layers but some of the characters were made of four layers!

My little one will be having an "animal man" party with lots of real furry cute critters and not so cute one's too - tarantulas and all sorts of creepy crawlies! As for his party invites, according to him cute little worms fit the bill! Hmmm, what to put in those treat bags!

Valentine's treats

A little while back I made a Valentine's treat bag and intended to make two more so that I had three for my kidlets. Fast forward a month and with two days to go I still hadn't got the other two bags made! So keeping things simple (and fast) I whipped up two more bags yesterday. Here they all are filled with heart mallows.

Each bag a little different, but reflecting the person that will receive it. A cute dino for my youngest,

a few words for my girl,

and, as much as I can, a slightly grunged up version for my eldest. I did ink up the edges - can't you see!. He probably won't thank me for the pink trees, but lets face it - these bags aren't going to last long!

Well it's the start of half term week here, so I expect my posts will be a little erratic for a wee while! We've got lots on the agenda - scuba diving, high ropes, laser clay pigeon shooting, ranger rambles, visiting family ...... My camera's at the ready!

Gift giving

I truly love giving gifts, especially when I can play around with the presentation! Here's one of the gift wraps I did recently for a friend.

I wrapped the present in some patterned paper and then made a tag using some of my new PTI goodies (tag die, mat stack 5, TT birthday) and a flourish from an old set (Vintage labels).

Can anyone guess what the present might be? .......... Yep some PTI stamp loveliness for my PTI addicted friend!

A change of purpurse

Do you find that something starts out as one thing and then morphs into something else? This was the case with the tag I showed you earlier this week. Here's the original:

I liked this tag a lot. So when I wanted to make a card for my good (and crafty) friend, I kept returning to this tag. That's when the tag morphed into a card!

And I added a bit of love to the inside too:

PTI favourite colours - Lisa

Another one for the theme of PTI favourite colours and I'm moving on to Lisa's colours:

Here's my little tag for these colours. Don't you just love Tiny Treats sets!

I clear embossed the mat stack 5 layer, added a scallop of bitty dots spring rain paper and then the Tiny Treats birthday bird. All layers were added using foam adhesive so its got lovely dimension. I did think about colouring the little bird with my copics or paper piercing the balloon, but you know what, I love him just as he is!

PTI favourite colours - Heather and Make it Mondays

Following on with the theme of PTI favourite colours on Nichole's blog, I picked out the lovely colours that Heather chose.

I also wanted to play along with PTI's new feature - Make it Mondays.

Keeping it short and sweet, here's my card for these colours and the Make it Mondays challenge of multiple sentiments:

I stamped the background with Text Style using chai ink before layering the birthday sentiments over the top. I really like how this technique turned out and will definitely try it again.

PTI favourite colours - Mailes

I'm sorry it's been a bit quiet around here - I had fun with my sister visiting. She's off home now, so I thought I'd play along with some of the great colours the PTI design team have been showcasing for PTI's anniversary over on Nichole's blog. I thought I'd start the ball rolling with the colours Mailes used.

Here's my card using these colours:

I used some pretty pastels paper for the lavender moon colourway and I've been hording (what me!) some Jenni Bowlin vellum butterflies that I thought went well for harvest gold.

I'm keeping things short today as I have another two posts I'd like to get up before going to the optician's. So keep watching and lets see if I make it!
