numbers game

There have been some big number birthdays within my family and friends. Here's a few of the cards I've made with a number being the main focus.

The two 50th cards were a remake of this card I did previously; just different colours. The 21st card was inspired by Pinterest which led me to this clever design.

I don't know about you, but I am hooked on the Olympics! As a family we have a keen interest in swimming, but during the Olympics I will totally get into any sport watching the drama play out is fascinating!

We finish the peeks for this month's There She Goes release with a cute beach/sea themed set.

Our final set this month is another FABULOUS creation from Torio. Made to coordinate perfectly with the previously released Make A Splash stamp set, this set if perfect for not only making cards, but scrapbooking your family vacations, and summer beach trips!

Beach Bum is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 19 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

This set is packed and I mean PACKED with the cutest images and puny sentiments! I couldn't fix on just one combination so made up a mini card set :)

Each card is the same basic CAS design - white layer matted onto coloured card to match the image. The image was stamped, coloured and fussy cut out before adding to the card front with dimensionals. A line of stitching accented the fab sentiments :)

Well that's me for this week. I'm hoping for sunny skies this weekend and then maybe I will get to the beach :)

cas-ual fridays 63

Yey it's Friday and time for another challenge from CAS-ual Fridays! We have a colour theme this week - lime, aqua and navy and our sponsor is Stop & Scrap who are offering a $25 gift certificate :)

After a comment on the blog, the Design Team got chatting about how they are inspired so I thought I'd share just a little of how I got to todays card. First off with a colour challenge I always get the closest colours of card I have to the challenge colours out on my desk. I might not use any card stock in my design but that's my starting off point. I then look at those colours and choose which I want to be most dominant/star of the stage - the colour I like the most possibly or the easiest one to fit into a design. I then think of ways to incorporate the other colours. With this weeks colour scheme my immediate thought was to use the green as leaves of some sort which left the aqua and navy. Navy was too dark to be an easy option for a flower so aqua was fixed as the flower colour which left the navy to act as an accent colour for the sentiment and card stock mat. As for which image to choose; I keep a basket of my newest products on my desk to remind myself to use what I've bought! So first off I rummage through the basket looking for something to spark an idea to fit with the plan of my colour scheme. For todays card I happened across the floral set by Hero Arts with matching dies and that led to the final card.

Today I'm peeking a new set from There She Goes which includes matching dies :)

No sweeter treat, or better way to Enjoy Life in the summer time than an ice cream cone, am I right? Well, Torico has made a FABULOUS set of mix and match patterns of ice cream, and their cones, for you to custom make your own YUMMY treats! And even better, we have custom made our own Die’s to go along with this FABULOUS set!!! They are a set of three dies including two ice cream tops, measuring at approximately 1 1/4" and 1", and one cone measuring at 1 1/8".

Enjoy Life is a 4x4 set that includes a total of 11 stamps and will sell for $10.00.  The Enjoy Life dies will sell separately for $8.25.

On this occasion I didn't use the dies but stamped the ice-cream and cone images before layering the sentiment and a teeny heart from another set (Perk Up). This just says summer to me :)

case study challenge 101

It's Thursday which means it must be time for another CASE study challenge :) Take a look at this wonderful card from our muse Kristii!

Isn't it delightful! I was drawn to the collage of flowers and the bird perched upon a flourish of twine.

I pulled out my Papertrey Ink lovely layers stamps and dies to create my flower and paired them with the reed bird from Memory Box. I used the back of the die cut so my bird was facing the right way LOL.

Torico has created another super cute character for us to love, and this adorable little guy is hitting the road! Perfect for your kids leaving for college, the military, or just for moving on to another path, this set, and its coordinating sentiments, will send them off the right way.

welcome baby

The ladies at Runway Inspired Challenge are holding a baby shower for two of their Design Team :) As is so happens I popped my cards in the post the other day for Sarah and Cristina but I haven't had chance to post them here yet. I can't claim to have been inspired by the wonderful photos as I made my cards a few days ago, I just want to join in sending my best wishes. As such I'm not entering the challenge per se but here's the cutie pictures from Dolce and Gabbana;

Here's the cards I made. I wanted them to be flat for mailing but I couldn't resist one popped up layer! Very CAS, lots of white, a cute image stamped in the palest of greys and a tiny heart. One in blue for Cristina:

The white's in my photos still seem a bit off at the moment. I've recently changed computers so perhaps the colour calibration is not quite right :(

Wohoo it's time to kick off this months There She Goes sneak peeks! I always love this time of month :)

Another FUN addition to her SUPER CUTE robot line, Torico is back with this month’s Maidbot. I know we all WISH we had one, and well, now you SORT OF do!!!! Imagine the fun cards and scrapbook pages you can make with this cutie, and her cleaning tools!

Maidbot is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 6 stamps and will sell for $7.00.

I have to say that the maidbot image is so cute but for this card I wanted to take a different route - this card is for my dear children! After 4 weeks of school holidays and 4 more to go it's time that everyone tidied up after themselves LOL!

pti - the very last one!

Here's just a quick update to the card set I made for PTI's stamp-a-faire challenges. As I'd made the envelopes myself they didn't have any glue to seal them with so I thought a set of pretty seals would be a nice addition to the set and might qualify me for the last challenge which was to make your own embellishment!

I stamped the background and then ran the card through my printer for the wording before using the Edgers 3 die to cut a decorative edge. I added little circles of glossy card underneath the flowers and then attached the flowers loosely with a glue dot. The flowers lift off easily from the glossy card and with the glue dot attached can be used to seal or simply decorate the envelopes :)

I'd like to thank the PTI team for providing such a fun event which has given me the opportunity to take a little time out for myself to recharge my batteries and have a great couple of crafty days.

pti card set challenge

I'm squeezing one more PTI challenge in today :) The challenge was to create your own card set using inspiration from the DT. I was so taken with Danielle's cute little notecards I stuck pretty much to her ideas when creating this set.

I don't have the half and half dies that Danielle used so I cut strips of white card and used the smaller of the Edgers 3 dies to add a decorative edge. Stamped a background in blue and then added sentiments from the We Go Together set in Enchanted Evening ink. Keeping it simple, a die cut Beautiful Blooms flower a button from Spring Mix and a flourish of twine to finish.

As the cards were of an unusual size I created mini envelopes for them using this technique. I again used the Edgers die to add a pretty detail to the envelope flap.

I think that's me done for PTI stamp-a-faire projects. There is one challenge I haven't managed - the homemade embellishment challenge and I'd love to try and squeeze it in before the deadline but I'm not sure I'll have time today.

pit tie-dye challenge

I can't believe I've created so much over the last day! I'm now onto challenge 6 of PTI's stamp-a-faire and it's an inky challenge to create tie-dye. I think this has been the hardest challenge for me and you should see the state of my fingers - talk about multi coloured and just look at the supply list of inks that I used! So considering the mess I made you might question the volume of tie-dye included in this card.

I had three pieces of card front sized card inked up in the end - two orange and one blue/green. I pondered this way and that and tried embossing one of the orange pieces with the sunrise impression plate, stamped a black silhouette on the blue/green piece, cut here, fiddled there until eventually the pieces got smaller and smaller. I don't suppose it's any big surprise that I ended up with a white card with just a splash of colour but hey I did get inky and most importantly I had fun :)

pti bracelet challenge

Morning! Well as it turns out I managed to make one more project last night for Papertrey Ink's stamp-a-faire as I turned my hand to bead making. My efforts are far from professional but I enjoyed myself so that's all that counts isn't it? Not having the dies or paper pad that Nichole used I turned to my supplies and made do. Here's the result.

As I didn't really use any PTI products to make this bracelet I thought it would be nice to make a little card to match.

Got to dash as I'm on Sunday morning children's taxi service :)

pti limited supply challenge

The next PTI challenge is to use only a limited set of supplies. I must admit that as someone who loves CAS design, a limited supply of products is just fine by me! I pulled out the supplies listed:

• stamp set - Natural Beauties. As I didn't have this set I used Lovely Layers instead.
• cardstock - white, hawaiian shores, aqua mist, simply chartreuse
• ribbon - hawaiian shores bitty dot 
• buttons - simply chartreuse
• ink - any
• dies - any

For this challenge I started off with a colourful little tag. I used lovely layers dies to cut layers from the three colours of card and accented them with the stamp set - stamping with versa mark ink and clear embossing.

Next up I chose to use one of the smaller images from the Lovely Layers set; stamping off the side of a Fillable Frame die cut and accenting with ribbon and a button.

Finally I thought that the second largest die cut from Lovely Layers reminded me of a cross and quite suited this sentiment from the set. I stamped the die cut with it's matching stamp in green and added a Simply Chartreuse button to finish.

Well that's me for now. My crew are back from their afternoon walk so I'm not sure how much time I will have for the rest of the day. As the evening approaches the light is fading and if I do manage to make anything then it will probably have to be photographed in the morning as I still haven't conquered a lighting set up for my pictures. I've had a fun day and hopefully will get to finish the challenges at some point.
