CASE study challenge #54

So far this anniversary month at CASE study we have challenged you to CASE us the Design Team, CASE other CASE study participants and CASE Chupa! So what's in store for you this week? Well for this week we want you to show us your signature style! Go on, show us what gets your creative juices flowing!

For me, my style is straight forward clean and simple (CAS). No doubt about it. I rambled on about it in this post here, so I won't bore you too much today with the same spiel! I tend to use a lot of white space and white cardstock - you should see how much of that stuff I go through! I do like a good pop of colour, a few details perhaps in some popped up layers, the odd embellishment or sparkle. You get the drift!

So here's one of my white space, white card creations.

And here's how I got to this card. I took my inspiration from this weeks Tuesday Trigger - Girly & Gutsy.

I took the leaves from the rug and stamped them in a fabulous zingy yellow, the flowers from the table and wall colour are represented in that simply gorgeous Prima flower, the black accents are represented by my black sentiment and the sparkly chandelier by my adhesive stones. So what was, for me, a quite detailed photo inspiration, I was able to pare down to a corner of my card which I hope still packs a gutsy punch while appealing to my CAS style. So there you have it - a look in to my signature style!

Here's a closer look at the leaves which a partially cut out and popped up for interest and dimension.

Please pop by and see the other CASE study designers - our styles are varied to give you the most inspiration.

By a happy coincidence Embellish's embossed flowers colour trends challenge has overlapped with
Casual Fridays embossing challenge. So I used the colours and embossed flowers from Embellish and kept my design clean and simple for Casual Fridays!

I used my new spiral notebook page again for my focal point of a flower from Papertrey Ink's everyday classics stamped in cranberry pigment ink and then clear embossed. This was paired with the stem from flower fusion 4 which I stamped in grey. The splash of green came from some lovely peapod twine from The Twinery. All on a sahara sand card base with a bit of text paper to add interest.

The flower embossed beautifully and is such a lovely deep red. In this photo I tried to catch the light so you can see the embossing better.

I'm also going to put this in the Papercrafts gallery this month - the theme is girlfriends. And one final one, A Passion for Papertrey are having an anything goes challenge.

I think that's it for me today, but call by tomorrow for my CASE study challenge post!

Sky's the limit

Well hello! Sorry I'm not posting very often just recently. I have a lot planned for September and have been trying to prepare as much as possible beforehand. The downside - not so much to look at for now, but hopefully a fun packed September!

I do have something to show you today though. I've had this idea in my head for a while - instead of a stamped cloud background I created one out of die cut clouds.

I've had my eye on some lovely stickers where the clouds are different colours and some of them have different patterns such as grid lines. However, I had all I needed at home already! My Lil' Inker clouds die and a Papertrey Ink stamp set with a ruled page type stamp. I die cut a bunch of both sizes of cloud and then stamped just the smaller clouds with the ruled lines.

I do love a splash of red with blue!

Thank you

I'm popping in today to share a card I made a while ago to use up some of my mountain of stash but never got round to sharing here! Now it's been a while so I don't remember where any specifics, but here you go!

I'd bought the acetate as it was simply gorgeous but never got round to using it, until I decided it would be just great on this card!

We have visitors this weekend so things may be a bit quiet here for a day or two. Hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Paper Smooches

I have recently discovered the delights of Paper Smooches stamps - oh such cute designs and the fonts are amazing too! Having got my bunch of recent purchases I made this little baby card with the adorable A Little Lovin set and posted it over to Kim at Paper Smooches to be considered for their September Guest Designer spot. Well I am so amazed and excited to say that Kim liked it and I get to Guest on the Paper Smooches blog in September. Wohooo!! Thanks Kim!

For Your Inspiration #12

This is my second post for today - please scroll down or click here to see my CASE study inspiration for this week.

For Your Inspiration #12 brings you a taste of autumn! Look at those blaze of leaves - colour, how I love colour!

I inked up the leaves of my tree in yellow then sponged orange around the edges of them. Then I added some buttons to really highlight those autumn colours. Notice those clouds - they are from Lil' Inker Designs and the reason I love them so much is that pierced edge. I often use a white background for my cards and white clouds can risk getting lost but with those pierced edges these clouds just pop right off the card!

Please pop by and see how the rest of the team were inspired!

    CASEing the CASE master!

Yep that's right, this week of our CASE study anniversary celebrations we are CASEing non other than Chupa! You will be spoilt rotten this week with the plethora of gorgeous creations to choose from! I took an age to choose, there were so many possibilities, but then eventually I picked this beauty.

Although I love these colours, I've used them a couple of times recently so I chose to CASE just the overall design - top justified panel, ribbon and punched bottom border on a kraft base.

Here in the UK it is the season of exam results, so I want to have a couple of congratulations cards on hand. Crossing fingers that everyone gets what they were hoping for! I used the flag die from Lil Inker Designs to make a banner and was reaching for a zig zag type border die to mimic the shape for my bottom punched border when I thought why not use the flag die again! So I cut 5 flags for my bottom border, adhering them at different levels to give a bit of interest.

Please pop by and see which of Chupa's creations inspired the other team members.

    Thank you teacher

Today I am popping in to share a card I made for a couple of challenges. I combined this weeks Casual Fridays challenge who have joined forces this week with Clean & Simple Stamping. In addition I used the inspiration board from Polka Dot Door - I was particularly taken with the colours.

I don't know about your school, but our Primary School is mainly populated by female teachers. So I thought I'd use a non traditional, slightly feminine colour scheme for a teacher card.

Once again I used my new Happy Trails set - I love that pencil!

That's it from me today - school goes back tomorrow and I need to go through the check list to make sure I've everything sorted. Have a good week.

    Thanks

Well I mentioned I've been adding to my Papertrey Ink stamps and dies and here's another new set to my collection - gracious vases. I do love everything that Maile Belles designs!

This card is a CASE of a wonderful team mate of mine - the owner of CASE study - Chupa. Here's her original card:

I loved the design and the way only one spray of flowers had been coloured. To keep with that theme I stamped three vases but only added colour to one.

On this card I also tried my hand at the technique shown on this weeks Papertrey Ink Make it Monday - to use copics to add colour to plain ribbon. I added a wide stripe of T1 and a small stripe either side of R22.

    Welcome baby

As soon as I saw the latest release from Paper Smooches I wanted this cute elephant duo. So sweet!

Another recent purchase for me has been a few Papertrey Ink dies and stamps that I didn't get on their original release but have since hankered after. One of which is this spiral notebook page die. So easy to use as a focal point. A paired it with another recent addition to my dies - the sentiment flag die from Lil' Inker Designs. Oh I do like my dies!

    Extreme CAS

You know how you can have extreme sports? Do you think a one layer card should be called exteme CAS?! LOL! Here's another one layerer from me today. When I saw the colours for this weeks Play Date Cafe Challenge I just had to play along. And I thought it a perfect partner for the current challenge on A Passion For Papertrey to make guy cards. So here you go a clean and simple, no frills (just like they like it) guy card.

    CASE study challenge #52

Here at CASE study we are continuing our birthday celebrations by CASEing YOU! Week on week we see your fabulous contributions to our challenges and so today it is the Design Team's opportunity to CASE you! I chose to CASE Angeline Yong - a regular CASE study participant whose clean and simple style I just love. Here's the card of Angeline's I chose to CASE:

I particularly liked the colour combination Angeline used on this card - neutrals with a pop of red. I kept my CASE very close to the original and made a little gift card holder to give to someone who has just moved home.

I stamped the front of Papertrey Ink's seed packet die with a strip of polka dots. Then in keeping with Angeline's bird theme I stamped a tag with a little bird and birdhouse. The whole thing is tied up with some red bakers twine.

Thanks for calling by today. Please pop over and see who the rest of the Design Team have chosen to CASE. You never know, it could be you!

    Lumpy clean and simple!

Don't forget about commenting on the Lil' Inker kick off hop for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate!

A while back I made this card as guest designer at The Play Date Cafe. Well as it happens I needed a birthday card for a friend of my son's and this design was the one that won in his book (with a little female guidance from my daughter!). So I girlied it up a bit with some fresh colours (not too girly - we're talking teenagers here!), cute die cut flag, stamped die cut butterfly and some bling.

So I guess you could call this clean and simple but in a slightly lumpy, bumpy way! I'm popping this card over to Paige at Create for their birthday card theme.

    You made my day

Have you seen my Lil' Inker Designs kick off blog hop post yet? If not scoot on by there and leave a comment as there are prizes to be had!

I'm here today to share a Lil' Inker Designs card I made the other day. While thinking about LIDs new rainbows and clouds dies and stamps I was transported back to our recent holiday in California. While walking the 'Mist Trail' in Yosemite rainbows were everywhere as the sun hit the mist kicked up from the raging waterfalls. The rainbows played hide and seek through the trees as we climbed higher and higher up the trail. So here's my card today inspired by our holiday.

I used the larger cloud die for the tree tops and the smaller cloud die for, well, the clouds! I stamped the tree tops with branches and leaves to add a bit of detail.

I'm going to enter this card into the sketch challenge for WMSC59. Here's the sketch.

I hope you can see how I was inspired from the sketch - the rainbow coming in from one side and the line of the trees from the other.

Lil' Inker Designs kick off hop!

Let the party start! We are so glad you could join us for our very first blog hop for Lil' Inker Designs.  Hopefully you came here from Teresa's blog, and if so you are right on track.  If not, make sure you start at the beginning over at Laura's blog because there are terrific prizes for those who complete the hop by commenting on each blog.  There are only 12 blogs and you have a week, so relax and enjoy!

The blog hop today is all about the 'Rainbows & Clouds' dies and coordinating stamps.

Just look at those cute sentiments in such a great font and the dies, oh the dies! They cut so clean and the clouds have a great pierced border to them. They are designed so well!

When I first looked at these dies I started thinking, not unsuprisingly, about rainbows and clouds! As I thought about the cloud die in particular my mind began to wander to modern terms such as cloud computing and iclouds pushing data from one place to another and of cloud diagrams demonstrating the process. So I cut myself a bunch of the larger cloud to play with and this is the result!

All the sentiments apart from one are from the Rainbow & Clouds stamp set which just shows you a small amount of the possibilities with this set.

Now as I had the cloud dies out, I sat there and looked at them and thought about what else they could become. How about tree tops!

I seem to have love on the brain LOL! I used the smaller cloud to cut three tree tops, popping the middle one up on dimensionals.

I'm so glad you stopped by!  I hope I've inspired you to play with our 'Rainbows & Clouds' set. Please make sure you leave a comment on my blog because Lil' Inker Designs is giving away some pretty terrific prizes! The deadline for commenting is 11:59pm EST, Sunday, August 14th. Your next stop on the hop is Sarah's blog. However, if you get lost along the way, here's a list of all the places to visit.

    Happy hopping!
